Meet Kul, Keshav, and Ramesh

Here it is, folks! The first student video of ENGLISH @ WORK’s 2012 Birthday Campaign! We start it off with three wonderful Bhutanese students – Kul, Keshav, and Ramesh. Tune in as they tell us about their journeys from a refugee camp in Nepal to the housekeeping department at Seton’s University Medical Center Brackenridge.

The three of them credit ENGLISH @ WORK with improving their workplace language skills, as well as inspiring them to get their GEDs and apply to Austin Community College. From the moment we met them, we have been impressed with their thirst for opportunity and it is no surprise to us that they have been doing so well. They have paid it forward in their own community by forming the Austin Bhutanese Youth organization, a non-profit that helps Bhutanese refugees celebrate their culture and adapt to their new lives in Austin.

We hope you enjoy their stories. And remember, donate to ENGLISH @ WORK so we can continue to help other refugees get the workplace language skills they need to sustain their families in their new home. Last week you helped us raise $500. Let’s go big and shoot for $1,000 this week! All of your donations are matched by the Charles and Betti Saunders Foundation. Donate today!
