St. David’s Georgetown Graduation Ceremony

On Monday, April 18, 2011, our St. David’s Georgetown Hospital students completed the entire English at Work program. They are the first ever class at any St. David’s Hospital to do so. Congratulations to them on all their hard work and dedication! We have seen them go from little to no English to being able to hold conversation with us and their supervisors confidently.

Also, big thank you to Robert Williams, Clinical Education Coordinator at St. David’s Academy for Clinical Excellence, Steve Flournoy, Director of Environmental Services (EVS), Court M. LeMaistre, Chief Operating Officer of St. David’s Georgetown, and Hugh Brown, Chief Executive Officer of St. David’s Georgetown, for attending the ceremony. We have never had so many supervisors attend a graduation ceremony. A second thank you to Constance Burns, EVS Supervisor, Gail Acuna, Director of Workforce Development at St. David’s Academy for Clinical Excellence, and Laura Light (and her intern!), Human Resources Director, for their ongoing support of the students throughout the entire program.

Cannot end this post without mentioning all the wonderful food our students brought for the ceremony. Maria Elena, your tamales are in the top 5 best tamales I have ever had in my life. We are still talking about them in the office!

We are also pleased to announce that because the Georgetown class was such a success, we will be beginning a class at the St. David’s South Austin Medical Center in May. We cannot wait!
