Week 4 of Our Birthday Fundraiser: Update from New Era Portfolio

Hi again!

We are in the fourth and final week of our May birthday fundraiser and this week our feature host business is New Era Portfolio. New Era is one of ENGLISH @ WORK’s most unique classes as it is our first venture into the art and printing world, it is one of our biggest classes, and it is the class where most of our students are parents.

What we find most impressive is that in a class of over 20, eight students had perfect attendance and another eight attended all classes but one in our latest course sequence. This is even more incredible as our class is at 7am just before their work shift. And, for all those that are parents, we know how difficult mornings can be with not only trying to get the children ready for school, but trying to get yourself ready as well.

New Era Students

So, as we make our final push for our May birthday fundraiser, we think of all the parents in our New Era class. According to the National Institute for Literacy, maternal literacy is a significant predictor of a child’s future success in school. Children of adults who participate in literacy programs are less likely to drop out of high school and have better test and reading scores.

If you are considering investing in the ENGLISH @ WORK program, know that your contribution will not only have an impact on our students, but their children as well.

Every gift counts.

Stay tuned for our final video next week for a tally on what we have been able to raise this month!
