Six years ago this month, 17 cooks, bus boys, and dishwashers gathered at the back of Guero’s Taco Bar in Austin, TX to learn the English alphabet. It was ENGLISH @ WORK’s very first class and never did I imagine we would eventually grow to serve over 500 local workers in 39 classes at 28 businesses in the service, health care, and construction industries.
In celebration of our May birthday month, we have set a goal to raise $1,000. Each week for the remainder of the month I will be checking in at a partner business updating you on our fundraiser progress. Below is my check in at Guero’s –
